Getting engaged is an incredibly special time in your lives. You’ve found the person you want to be with for always, and you want to make that commitment to each other official. Many couples choose to mark their engagement with a photoshoot - some gorgeous couple portraits that you can proudly hang on your wall, record in a beautiful book, and look back on in the years ahead is a truly lovely way to celebrate and remember this major part of your life journey together.
WHAT IS A PRE-WEDDING SHOOT?
An pre-wedding photoshoot - or engagement shoot as it’s also called - is a photoshoot we do together in the months leading up to your wedding day. It’s a perfect way to take some time out of the planning process to relax, enjoy some time together and get some fabulous couple portraits. It also allows the four of us to get to know each other better ahead of your wedding day.
The best thing is that your pre-wedding shoot is totally and completely about YOU - there’s no guests, no distractions, none of the time pressures of a wedding day - just you and us and the opportunity to create some beautiful photos of the two of you.
A pre-wedding photoshoot is included as part of our Signature Collection, or you can choose it as an add-on to a digital package.

PRE-WEDDING PHOTOSHOOT LOCATIONS
Some couples know exactly where they want to have their pre-wedding shoot - sometimes it’s the place they got engaged, sometimes it’s somewhere they’ve always wanted to go, sometimes they have no idea and ask us for advice! Most often, it’s a lovely spot in the countryside with a beautiful setting. Your shoot will typically last 2-3 hours and we may incorporate two or three different locations nearby to each other so we get some variety in your photos.
“But we feel awkward in front of the camera…”
This is the most common thing we hear, and it may sound counterintuitive but this is one of the best reasons to have a pre-wedding shoot!
If the idea of being photographed fills you with dread, then the opportunity to discover for yourself that it’s not at all anything to be nervous about is one of the best things you can do ahead of your wedding day. It may feel strange at first, but you’ll soon relax into it and the nerves will disappear. Without exception, our couples tell us how comfortable they felt on their pre-wedding shoot and that they no longer feel nervous about being photographed on their wedding day. In fact, they look forward to it!
Better still, they’ve picked up little tips from their pre-wedding shoot that help them on the day and, for us, having photographed you already, we know how you respond in front of the camera and how to get the best out of you. For most of your wedding day, you won’t really be aware of us, but for the occasions where we give you some gentle direction, our couples who’ve had a pre-wedding photoshoot usually nail it straight away!

Following your pre-wedding photoshoot, we create a guest signing book for you to use on your wedding day, which includes 15-20 of your favourite photoshoot images combined with lined pages for your guests to leave you lovely messages!
