A BLACK TIE WEDDING AT ROOKERY HALL
ROOKERY HALL WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY
On a lovely summer day, Anna & David tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony at Rookery Hall in Cheshire.
They chose a very stylish and classy monochrome theme, with a black tie dress code for guests. In exceptionally sophisticated style, David flew himself to his own wedding, along with his groomsmen, landing on Rookery Hall’s helipad. Whilst Pete positioned himself on the front lawns, ready to photograph David’s arrival, Leanie was with Anna in her room looking out over the helipad and the guests waiting below – who didn’t know anything about David’s helicopter arrival!
This big plan for the day had been weather-dependent, so it was fabulous that the weather was fair and not too windy. Pete had spoken to David quite extensively about the direction he’d be flying in from, and which direction he’d set down the helicopter, so as to ensure he would be in the right place ready with his camera, whilst also not giving away the surprise to the guests and not getting too close to the downdraft – only one chance to get this challenge right!
Back in Anna’s room, it was pretty emotional when we first heard the distant ‘thup thup’ of a helicopter; you don’t normally hear the groom arrive! It was really special capturing these moments with Anna as she watched her husband-to-be fly in for their wedding.
In a style that James Bond might have been envious of, David expertly landed his helicopter and emerged looking happy and distinguished in his blue suit.
Then it was time to head to the ceremony. The couple had chosen large white globe balloons to decorate the room, along with a white aisle carpet and cream and green florals, which suited the classy and minimalist black tie theme perfectly. Photographing Anna & David’s wedding ceremony was one of those occasions where it felt like the rest of the room fell away, and there was only the bride and groom and, with some lovely readings from family and friends - including a fabulous reading of ‘The Lovely Dinosaur’ by Edward Monkton - it was such a happy service.
The shot of the ceremony for us (and Anna & David!) was this one of David giving the thumbs up while kissing his new wife. These are the moments we have to be ready for!!
After the ceremony, we gathered everyone outside the front of the hall for confetti photos and a full group shot. Anna had brought plenty of confetti (always a good idea!) and everyone was finding it in odd places for the rest of the day! Confetti is always good fun for everyone :)
For Anna & David’s couple portraits, we took in various parts of Rookery Hall’s lovely countryside grounds. Anna wore a gorgeous Pronovias gown, with amazing feather detail that caught the breeze, and a short train – simple and so elegant. Anna & David are great fun and there was a lot of laughter during their couple shoot – it’s what shines through in their photographs.
It might sound obvious for a wedding day, but what we remember most about Anna & David’s day was so much love and laughter – guys, we wish you a future filled with both.
