LAURA & ANDY’S NUNSMERE HALL WEDDING
Laura & Andy celebrated their perfect wedding day at Nunsmere Hall in Cheshire in July.
Laura and Andy chose a timeless monochrome style, with the groom and groomsmen in black tie and pretty blush for the bridesmaids, with classically stylish white and green florals.

THE MORNING
Laura and Andy both chose to get ready at Nunsmere. Laura spent the morning with her girls and her mum, the prosecco was flowing and it was smiles all round! Laura chose to wear her hair down, with a timeless wave, styled by her talented friend who did all the girls’ hair.
Andy and his groomsmen had a relaxed morning getting ready, and Andy sent Laura a little surprise card and gift which was an emotional moment requiring a little makeup touch up!
When the guys were ready, they headed out with Pete into the gardens for some pre-ceremony photos – it’s always a great time to get some shots of the groom and his groomsmen; there’s often a bit of spare time for the guys in the morning, whilst often the afternoon can be a lot more hectic!
Laura’s bridesmaids had presented her with a personalised card, which we decided to recreate with a fun photo, then it was time to get into the dresses.
THE CEREMONY
The usual nerves and excitement were building before the ceremony began – as we always say to our couples: deep breaths, take it slow, soak it all in – it’s the moment you’ve spent so long dreaming of and planning for!
Laura looked absolutely radiant as she walked down the aisle to Andy, and it was a lovely and happy ceremony.
THE AFTERNOON
As the guest reception got underway, the fine weather began to turn a little ominous. In a typical wedding afternoon between ceremony and wedding breakfast, we’d photograph the family groups before taking the bride and groom for their portraits but changing weather can sometimes mean we need to shuffle things around a bit – this is all part of a wedding, working with things on the day as they happen and knowing that you need to be flexible!
We knew that Laura & Andy wanted to capture some photos by Nunsmere’s lake, and that they really didn’t want to get wet doing it! So making the most of the dry weather before it changed, we headed off via Nunsmere’s gardens to the lake.
Happily, we timed it just right and as Laura & Andy returned to be announced to their dinner guests the rain began in earnest and continued for the rest of the day.
Like many of our couples these days, Laura & Andy chose to hold their speeches before the meal – it’s a great way to make sure that everyone can relax properly during their meal, knowing that the ‘formalities’ are all done! As well as the traditional speeches, Laura also stood to make a speech (yes to brides making speeches!) and it was an especially emotional moment as she raised a toast to her bridesmaid, who had recently battled with breast cancer. A powerful reminder, if any were needed, that weddings are so much about family and friends making memories together.
After dinner, with the rain still coming down, we used an area of Nunsmere’s covered walkway to photograph the family and bridal party photos that we hadn’t been able to do earlier in the day, with the Nunsmere staff helpfully moving some of the floral displays into the scene – all the while the rain was pouring in the background, but everyone stayed dry!
THE EVENING
After cake cutting, everyone gathered around the dancefloor for the first dance – it was one of the first full indoor first dances we had been able to photograph in 2021 and it was wonderful to see everyone being able to join in and celebrate in the usual way.
Laura and Andy had chosen ‘Electricity’ by Dua Lipa for their first dance, performed by their band for the evening, The Manytones. It was the perfect way to start the party and from then on the dancing never stopped!
